About Clay
Dr. Walker is a Lecturer III in the Program in Technical Communication in the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan. Dr. Walker has been teaching college-level courses in composition, rhetoric, and communication since 2008. As a writing instructor, Dr. Walker is interested in helping students develop the language abilities that can help them achieve their personal and professional goals in our diverse multicultural society. Dr. Walker studies language and literacy with a special focus on cognitive linguistics, translingualism, and critical literacy studies. Dr. Walker is currently part of an interdisciplinary research team examining faculty attitudes towards diverse language and literacy practices in upper-level undergraduate courses across the disciplines. Before joining the UM faculty in Technical Communication, he taught at Wayne State University and Tiffin University.
